About Us
You will be joining a well-established privately owned company based in Hornby, who for over 25 years have been providing Grounds Maintenance, Civil Construction and Landscaping services in and around Canterbury.
Our Mechanical Workshop extensively supports all areas of the business with services including the repair and maintenance of our vehicles and machinery, welding and fabrication.
Our Civil Construction Team is growing its project repertoire and capacity having established a reputation for successfully delivered projects for earthworks, drainage, roading, pathways, concrete structures and the construction of stormwater treatment facilities, waterway enhancements and drainage improvements.
Our Open Spaces division offers a diverse range of services including roadside mowing, chemical spraying, pest plant control, landscaping, mass native planting and hydro seeding, as well as high amenity sports turf maintenance. We provide traffic management for NZTA and local authority contracts and roading maintenance through NZTA’s NOC maintenance contracts.

The Opportunity
A new opportunity has become available for an experience mechanic who is an expert at diagnosing faults, repairing and servicing a wide variety of turf related machinery and equipment. This could include machinery such as our late-model John Deere and Fendt tractors, Trimax, TMC Cancela, Redexim, Bomford, and McConnell tractor implements, as well as Toro and Jacobsen ride-on mowers.
You will mainly work on machinery in our large workshop and occasionally attend breakdowns and complete servicing and repairs on our work sites. Completing regular inspections and services as part of the Maintenance Schedule is required as well as ensuring documentation is completed for all repairs, maintenance and service records.
You will have the ability to self-manage and work independently as well as be an integral part of our Mechanical team. Cultural fit is as important to us as is your technical ability. Team cooperation, willingness to help others learn and grow and promoting safety, efficiency and cost-effectiveness are all part of our working day at GSL.
You will need to be a natural problem-solver with a solutions-based mindset. The ability to perform multiple tasks effectively, with a focus on timeliness and responsiveness is all part of your day. As one of the key contacts in the workshop, you will provide essential support for internal customers such as understanding their requirements and explaining technical terms as needed.

What You'll Bring
• Full NZ driver licence required with Class 2, F, WTR endorsements
• Must be NZ trade equivalent, qualified Mechanic
• 3+ years’ experience in diagnosing faults, mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics
