About Us
Grounds and Services Limited (GSL) is based in Hornby, Christchurch and has been providing landscape, grounds maintenance, civil construction and roading maintenance services for the past 25 years. We specialise in turf maintenance and earthwork construction, especially in wetland areas. Over the past three years we have completed several storm water basin projects for the Christchurch City Council and continue to have a heavy presence in this space. Our civil construction division have a highly experienced team that complete a wide scope of projects, from commercial concrete and asphalt car parks, kerb and channelling, roading, and the construction of footpaths, driveways and concrete structures.
GSL also offer a diverse range of services such as roadside mowing and chemical spraying, traffic management, high profile amenity maintenance, NOC roading maintenance and landscaping. GSL primarily operates in the Canterbury area, with existing grounds and roading maintenance contracts extending from the Kaikoura Coast in the North to the Waitaki River in the South and West to the Southern Alps.
Our extensive range of plant and equipment is supplemented by our transportation fleet to get the resources to where they need to go. Our large, certified mechanical workshop ensures the fleet is regularly serviced and maintained.

The Opportunity
This newly created role will provide an opportunity to be involved in and gain hands-on practical experience across a wide variety of tasks and projects associated with software and application development, database design and data management. You will be supporting our business operations and ensuring optimal performance and integrity.
You will be actively involved in different projects and opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge, such as:
• Implement and maintain software applications based on project requirements
• Design and create data structures based on application requirements
• Maintain and manage systems and databases
• Provide documentation of systems architecture and design
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, project managers and stakeholders to gather and refine requirements.
These are just some of the activities you can get immersed in with other opportunities possible as the business grows their information technology requirements.
You would be working for about twenty five hours per week, with the opportunity to flex up if required, and you will be fully supported by our Electronic Engineer. You will have studied or be currently studying a relevant New Zealand accredited tertiary qualification in Computer Science or Information Technology.
